Caroline Duffy Designs Wins Overall Prize at the 2026 Louth Local Enterprise Awards
I’m still a little bit in shock writing this, but I’m absolutely delighted and incredibly honoured to share that Caroline Duffy Designs has been named the Overall Winner of the 2026 Louth Local Enterprise Awards.
The awards took place on Friday, 6th March at the Marcy Hotel in Drogheda as part of Local Enterprise Week Louth, an annual celebration of the creativity, innovation, and ambition of the many small businesses that make County Louth such a vibrant place to live and work. To be recognised among so many inspiring local businesses was truly humbling, and I’m still taking it all in.
From NCAD Graduate to Textile Designer
My journey into art and design began at the National College of Art and Design (NCAD) in Dublin, where I studied design and developed a deep love for colour, pattern, and storytelling through visual work.
After graduating, I spent ten years working as a surface and textile designer for leading textile houses in New York, Sydney, and London. During that time, I created designs for a wide range of international clients and gained invaluable experience in the global textile design industry.
While those years were incredibly formative, I always held onto the dream of building something of my own — a creative business where I could develop artwork that felt personal, expressive, and connected to home.
That dream eventually became Caroline Duffy Designs, a County Louth–based Irish art and design business creating original artwork, prints, and design-led products inspired by colour, nature, and contemporary pattern.
Building an Irish Art and Design Business
Starting Caroline Duffy Designs was both exciting and a little daunting. Like many small creative businesses, it began with a simple goal — to share my artwork with people who connect with it.
Over time, the business has grown thanks to the incredible support of customers, stockists, collaborators, and the wider creative community. Every piece I create is rooted in my background in textile design and my love of bold colour, playful composition, and thoughtful design.
As a small Irish creative business, recognition like this means an enormous amount.
Winning the 2026 Louth Local Enterprise Awards
The Louth Local Enterprise Awards recognise excellence across a wide range of small businesses and entrepreneurs in County Louth. After a competitive shortlisting process, twelve businesses across six award categories were selected as finalists for 2026.
On the day, Caroline Duffy Designs was honoured with the Export Award, recognising the growing reach of the brand beyond Ireland.
I was already thrilled to receive that award, so when my name was later announced as the Overall Winner of the 2026 Louth Local Enterprise Awards, I was honestly speechless.
For a small, artist-led business, this kind of recognition is incredibly meaningful. It represents years of creative work, persistence, and the support of so many people who believe in what I do.
Representing Louth at the 2026 National Enterprise Awards
As the overall winner for Louth, Caroline Duffy Designs will now represent the county at the 2026 National Enterprise Awards Final, which will take place this June at the Mansion House in Dublin.
The event brings together outstanding small businesses from across Ireland, competing for a national prize fund of €80,000.
It feels surreal to even write that, and I’m incredibly proud to represent County Louth and the creative sector on a national stage.
