Surface & Textile

Design

I live and breathe colour and pattern. It’s what I fell in love with at National College of Art & Design, Dublin back in the 1990s. I took this creative need for understanding fabric and pattern and earned my stripes in textile houses in New York, Sydney and London before going freelance.

With my work, from sketch to textile design, I collaborate with clients to create designs that follow trends, smash trends and set trends – depending on your need. I work with various styles – hand drawn, digitally manipulated, pencil sketches, different paint and mark making techniques, drawing and photography to produce the desired effect on the design.

I have designed for high end, commercial labels designing prints and patterns for some of the world’s best loved brands. I’ve designed women’s wear, swimwear, cushions, home- furnishings, bedlinen, children’s wear, men’s wear and athleisure wear.

My designs have been showcased on catwalks, magazines and international and national homeware stores. But most importantly, they catch the attention of the buyer and give the wearer a sense of who they truly are.

Why Choose Caroline Duffy Designs

FOR YOUR TEXTILE OR SURFACE PATTERN DESIGN?

I have a fundamental understanding of textiles, yarns and a variety of surfaces which enables me to see how patterns will flow and look on finished pieces.

When creating the design, I can visualise the design on the finished piece of fabric or surface.

In a collaboration project, I will use my unique and well earned knowledge to bring honesty and let the client know that the design will work or not.

I interpret trends, analyses the client brief and transforms it into a unique piece for every client.

Testimonials

Caroline has a fundamental understanding of textiles, yarns, weave plans etc. that allow her to look beyond the pure artwork and envisage the design as a finished piece of fabric.

Richard Vergnano,

Tabetex Fabric Weavers.

We liked your portfolio and your personality, so that’s why she chose you to design for us!

Charles Gallen,

Irish Linen.

I always loved having a quick peak at the abundant colourful samples that you produced daily for your trips to London for your agent and your trade fairs. Having studied printed textile design myself I was always intrigued to see where and how you developed your designs and where they got used in the end.

Bernadette,

Duinn Designs.
